The Quantum Transition: Everything You Need to Know
A massive upgrade is about to take place on solana.fm. Here's everything you need to know about the Quantum Transition.
Introduction
Last month, the SolanaFM team launched Early Access for Quantum, a next-generation block explorer serving as an major upgrade to our existing explorer interface (solana.fm). Since then, over 90,000 users have come onboard to help us stress-test the new explorer and provide us with invaluable feedback.
What happened over the past month, and what can you expect moving forward?
Here’s all the information you need to know.
Why We Built Quantum
Navigating on-chain data has historically been a daunting task for traders and analysts on Solana. Since the first release of the SolanaFM explorer, the community had been vocal about a number of prominent issues facing Solana explorers — they were simply hard to read, difficult to navigate and weren’t fast enough.
With different data structures to other blockchains like Ethereum and issues translating smart contracts at scale, users naturally found it harder to break down transactions on Solana. This is where Quantum steps in.
Quantum has unveiled features like the Transaction Header, Advanced Filters and an RPC Multiplexer among many other features to help you understand transactions on Solana at a glance.
This phase has played a crucial role in our journey — we listened to our early testers and further refined the explorer features. This ensures we’re fully equipped to empower everyday users to navigate the explorer easily.
What’s Next: The Quantum Transition
2nd December marked the end of the Early Access phase for Quantum.
To mark this milestone, we’re thrilled to announce that the Quantum explorer, quantum.solana.fm, will undergo a full transition into our current explorer interface, solana.fm.
The full transition will take place on Monday, 4th December, at 1430hrs (UTC). This means all our new features on Quantum will be available on solana.fm moving forward, and our early testers visiting quantum.solana.fm will be routed to solana.fm.
The existing UI interface on solana.fm will be deprecated with this transition.
During this transition, some familiar features will temporarily be unavailable such as:
These features will return with further enhancements in time to come.
Frequently Asked Questions
While the transition is in progress, we understand that transitions can bring uncertainty. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
